From the guy behind Two Steps From Hell comes a beautiful song I have found oddly helpful and reassuring through difficult times..."Into Darkness."

I realize the latter part won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I have become a fan of dance/EDM over the years so it works for me.

I'm in love with this smile.gif And even though it's in Swahili, I know what they sing biggrin.gif (It's "Lord's Prayer")

Very nice find!! Added to my favs. smile.gif

Along similar lines, I have really been enjoying various settings of the Divine Liturgy lately. Some of the Byzantine musical traditions are very different--a lot different than you would hear for the Catholic Mass. I've heard Greek, Russian, and Arab versions so far and it is really fascinating to hear how each culture does it.

A song that always reminded me of the most ancient Hebitians, before they developed high technology, or a group that kept to those ways. I always have the image of them dressed in traditional ceremonial clothing, scales painted in intricate patterns where there is exposed skin, armed with ancient spears and dancing as described in the lyrics.

Oh my goodness, I can't handle this month's CD that is playing in the Barnes & Noble cafe. It is so...bland. Yet somehow in being bland it manages to be annoying. O_O

I don't know who the artists are (so don't worry, I can't name and shame anything you guys enjoy wink.gif ) because I have become very ignorant of US pop culture over the years. I just know I hear some of this stuff on my parents' radio and it aggravates me whenever I take a trip with family, too. wink.gif

Putting on my earphones with some music...

AHHHHH, what a relief...

I really enjoy this rock band from Russia, called Dekabr (December). I particularly enjoy them as a fan of the German band Blind Guardian. IMO, there is no way that Dekabr's vocalist could not realize how much he sounds like BG's vocalist, Hansi Kuersch. I mean, try this on for comparison...I realize that both Hansi and the Dekabr vocalist are acquired tastes, but their voices and styles (especially on this album) are very close.

True, it's a bit dangerous to compare anyone to Hansi Kuersch, given the extremely high calibre of singer that Hansi is (AMAZING range and enough control to pull off a song by Queen without sounding like he chose material that was above his skill and capability), and Blind Guardian is prog metal rather than more mainstream rock. I am not claiming the Dekabr vocalist reaches Hansi's level, though he's good. But the comparison IMO is there. smile.gif

(For comparison, "Noldor," by Blind Guardian: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxY_QeUF_Qs )

It's as though Two Steps From Hell did a collaboration with Imagine Dragons. Absolutely epic. Be sure to listen all the way through.

I only like certain ones of their songs, but I figured you'd enjoy that part. wink.gif

I have been listening to this soundtrack. Its from the movie Local Hero. A mildly humorous, cheesy 1980s movie with a great soundtrack.
